Chapter 107

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Alleluia. perché eterna è la sua misericordia.

Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Lo dicano i riscattati del Signore, che egli liberò dalla mano del nemico

And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

e radunò da tutti i paesi, dall'oriente e dall'occidente, dal settentrione e dal mezzogiorno.

They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

Vagavano nel deserto, nella steppa, non trovavano il cammino per una città dove abitare.

Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

Erano affamati e assetati, veniva meno la loro vita.

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.

And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

Li condusse sulla via retta, perché camminassero verso una città dove abitare.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini;

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

poiché saziò il desiderio dell'assetato, e l'affamato ricolmò di beni.

Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;

Abitavano nelle tenebre e nell'ombra di morte, prigionieri della miseria e dei ceppi,

Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:

perché si erano ribellati alla parola di Dio e avevano disprezzato il disegno dell'Altissimo.

Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.

Egli piegò il loro cuore sotto le sventure; cadevano e nessuno li aiutava.

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

Li fece uscire dalle tenebre e dall'ombra di morte e spezzò le loro catene.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini;

For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

perché ha infranto le porte di bronzo e ha spezzato le barre di ferro.

Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

Stolti per la loro iniqua condotta, soffrivano per i loro misfatti;

Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.

rifiutavano ogni nutrimento e gia toccavano le soglie della morte.

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.

Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Mandò la sua parola e li fece guarire, li salvò dalla distruzione.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia e per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini.

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

Offrano a lui sacrifici di lode, narrino con giubilo le sue opere.

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;

Coloro che solcavano il mare sulle navi e commerciavano sulle grandi acque,

These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.

videro le opere del Signore, i suoi prodigi nel mare profondo.

For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.

Egli parlò e fece levare un vento burrascoso che sollevò i suoi flutti.

They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.

Salivano fino al cielo, scendevano negli abissi; la loro anima languiva nell'affanno.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

Ondeggiavano e barcollavano come ubriachi, tutta la loro perizia era svanita.

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

Nell'angoscia gridarono al Signore ed egli li liberò dalle loro angustie.

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Ridusse la tempesta alla calma, tacquero i flutti del mare.

Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Si rallegrarono nel vedere la bonaccia ed egli li condusse al porto sospirato.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia e per i suoi prodigi a favore degli uomini.

Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

Lo esaltino nell'assemblea del popolo, lo lodino nel consesso degli anziani.

He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;

Ridusse i fiumi a deserto, a luoghi aridi le fonti d'acqua

A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

e la terra fertile a palude per la malizia dei suoi abitanti.

He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

Ma poi cambiò il deserto in lago, e la terra arida in sorgenti d'acqua.

And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;

Là fece dimorare gli affamati ed essi fondarono una città dove abitare.

And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

Seminarono campi e piantarono vigne, e ne raccolsero frutti abbondanti.

He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

Li benedisse e si moltiplicarono, non lasciò diminuire il loro bestiame.

Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

Ma poi, ridotti a pochi, furono abbattuti, perché oppressi dalle sventure e dal dolore.

He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.

Colui che getta il disprezzo sui potenti, li fece vagare in un deserto senza strade.

Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.

Ma risollevò il povero dalla miseria e rese le famiglie numerose come greggi.

The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

Vedono i giusti e ne gioiscono e ogni iniquo chiude la sua bocca.

Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

Chi è saggio osservi queste cose e comprenderà la bontà del Signore.
