Chapter 68

To the chief Musician, A Psalm or Song of David. Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

Al maestro del coro. Di Davide. Salmo. Canto. Sorga Dio, i suoi nemici si disperdano e fuggano davanti a lui quelli che lo odiano.

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

Come si disperde il fumo, tu li disperdi; come fonde la cera di fronte al fuoco, periscano gli empi davanti a Dio.

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

I giusti invece si rallegrino, esultino davanti a Dio e cantino di gioia.

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

Cantate a Dio, inneggiate al suo nome, spianate la strada a chi cavalca le nubi: «Signore» è il suo nome, gioite davanti a lui.

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

Padre degli orfani e difensore delle vedove è Dio nella sua santa dimora.

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Ai derelitti Dio fa abitare una casa, fa uscire con gioia i prigionieri; solo i ribelli abbandona in arida terra.

O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

Dio, quando uscivi davanti al tuo popolo, quando camminavi per il deserto,

The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

la terra tremò, stillarono i cieli davanti al Dio del Sinai, davanti a Dio, il Dio di Israele.

Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

Pioggia abbondante riversavi, o Dio, rinvigorivi la tua eredità esausta.

Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

E il tuo popolo abitò il paese che nel tuo amore, o Dio, preparasti al misero.

The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Il Signore annunzia una notizia, le messaggere di vittoria sono grande schiera:

Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.

«Fuggono i re, fuggono gli eserciti, anche le donne si dividono il bottino.

Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

Mentre voi dormite tra gli ovili, splendono d'argento le ali della colomba, le sue piume di riflessi d'oro».

When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.

Quando disperdeva i re l'Onnipotente, nevicava sullo Zalmon.

The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.

Monte di Dio, il monte di Basan, monte dalle alte cime, il monte di Basan.

Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.

Perché invidiate, o monti dalle alte cime, il monte che Dio ha scelto a sua dimora? Il Signore lo abiterà per sempre.

The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

I carri di Dio sono migliaia e migliaia: il Signore viene dal Sinai nel santuario.

Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

Sei salito in alto conducendo prigionieri, hai ricevuto uomini in tributo: anche i ribelli abiteranno presso il Signore Dio.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Benedetto il Signore sempre; ha cura di noi il Dio della salvezza.

He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.

Il nostro Dio è un Dio che salva; il Signore Dio libera dalla morte.

But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.

Sì, Dio schiaccerà il capo dei suoi nemici, la testa altèra di chi percorre la via del delitto.

The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:

Ha detto il Signore: «Da Basan li farò tornare, li farò tornare dagli abissi del mare,

That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.

perché il tuo piede si bagni nel sangue, e la lingua dei tuoi cani riceva la sua parte tra i nemici».

They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

Appare il tuo corteo, Dio, il corteo del mio Dio, del mio re, nel santuario.

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.

Precedono i cantori, seguono ultimi i citaredi, in mezzo le fanciulle che battono cèmbali.

Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.

«Benedite Dio nelle vostre assemblee, benedite il Signore, voi della stirpe di Israele».

There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

Ecco, Beniamino, il più giovane, guida i capi di Giuda nelle loro schiere, i capi di Zàbulon, i capi di Nèftali.

Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.

Dispiega, Dio, la tua potenza, conferma, Dio, quanto hai fatto per noi.

Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.

Per il tuo tempio, in Gerusalemme, a te i re porteranno doni.

Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter thou the people that delight in war.

Minaccia la belva dei canneti, il branco dei tori con i vitelli dei popoli: si prostrino portando verghe d'argento; disperdi i popoli che amano la guerra.

Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.

Verranno i grandi dall'Egitto, l'Etiopia tenderà le mani a Dio.

Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:

Regni della terra, cantate a Dio, cantate inni al Signore;

To him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.

egli nei cieli cavalca, nei cieli eterni, ecco, tuona con voce potente.

Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.

Riconoscete a Dio la sua potenza, la sua maestà su Israele, la sua potenza sopra le nubi.

O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.

Terribile sei, Dio, dal tuo santuario; il Dio d'Israele dà forza e vigore al suo popolo, sia benedetto Dio.
