Chapter 124

A Song of degrees of David. If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

Se não fora o Senhor, que esteve ao nosso lado, ora diga Israel:   

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

Se não fora o Senhor, que esteve ao nosso lado, quando os homens se levantaram contra nós,   

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

eles nos teriam tragado vivos, quando a sua ira se acendeu contra nós;   

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

as águas nos teriam submergido, e a torrente teria passado sobre nós;   

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

sim, as águas impetuosas teriam passado sobre nós.   

Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Bendito seja o Senhor, que não nos entregou, como presa, aos dentes deles.   

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Escapamos, como um pássaro, do laço dos passarinheiros; o laço quebrou-se, e nós escapamos.   

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

O nosso socorro está no nome do Senhor, que fez os céus e a terra.
