The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. |

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. |
| | Non giovano i tesori male acquistati, mentre la giustizia libera dalla morte.
|
|
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked. |
| | Il Signore non lascia patir la fame al giusto, ma delude la cupidigia degli empi.

|
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. |
| | La mano pigra fa impoverire, la mano operosa arricchisce.
|
|
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. |
| | Chi raccoglie d'estate è previdente; chi dorme al tempo della mietitura si disonora.
|
|
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. |
| | Le benedizioni del Signore sul capo del giusto, la bocca degli empi nasconde il sopruso.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. |
| | La memoria del giusto è in benedizione, il nome degli empi svanisce.

|
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. |
| | L'assennato accetta i comandi, il linguacciuto va in rovina.
|
|
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. |
| | Chi cammina nell'integrità va sicuro, chi rende tortuose le sue vie sarà scoperto.
|
|
He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall. |
| | Chi chiude un occhio causa dolore, chi riprende a viso aperto procura pace.
|
|
The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. |
| | Fonte di vita è la bocca del giusto, la bocca degli empi nasconde violenza.

|
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. |
| | L'odio suscita litigi, l'amore ricopre ogni colpa.
|
|
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding. |
| | Sulle labbra dell'assennato si trova la sapienza, per la schiena di chi è privo di senno il bastone.

|
Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. |
| | I saggi fanno tesoro della scienza, ma la bocca dello stolto è un pericolo imminente.

|
The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty. |
| | I beni del ricco sono la sua roccaforte, la rovina dei poveri è la loro miseria.

|
The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin. |
| | Il salario del giusto serve per la vita, il guadagno dell'empio è per i vizi.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. |

|
He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. |
| | Placano l'odio le labbra sincere, chi diffonde la calunnia è uno stolto.

|
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. |
| | Nel molto parlare non manca la colpa, chi frena le labbra è prudente.
|
|
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. |
| | Argento pregiato è la lingua del giusto, il cuore degli empi vale ben poco.
|
|
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. |
| | Le labbra del giusto nutriscono molti, gli stolti muoiono in miseria.
|
|
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. |
| | La benedizione del Signore arricchisce, non le aggiunge nulla la fatica.
|
|
It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. |
| | E' un divertimento per lo stolto compiere il male, come il coltivar la sapienza per l'uomo prudente.
|
|
The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. |
| | Al malvagio sopraggiunge il male che teme, il desiderio dei giusti invece è soddisfatto.
|
|
As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. |
| | Al passaggio della bufera l'empio cessa di essere, ma il giusto resterà saldo per sempre.
|
|
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him. |
| | Come l'aceto ai denti e il fumo agli occhi così è il pigro per chi gli affida una missione.
|
|
The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. |
| | Il timore del Signore prolunga i giorni, ma gli anni dei malvagi sono accorciati.
|
|
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. |
| | L'attesa dei giusti finirà in gioia, ma la speranza degli empi svanirà.
|
|
The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. |
| | La via del Signore è una fortezza per l'uomo retto, mentre è una rovina per i malfattori.
|
|
The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth. |
| | Il giusto non vacillerà mai, ma gli empi non dureranno sulla terra.
|
|
The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. |
| | La bocca del giusto esprime la sapienza, la lingua perversa sarà tagliata.
|
|
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness. |
| | Le labbra del giusto stillano benevolenza, la bocca degli empi perversità.
