Chapter 22

To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Dio mio, invoco di giorno e non rispondi, grido di notte e non trovo riposo.

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Eppure tu abiti la santa dimora, tu, lode di Israele.

Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

In te hanno sperato i nostri padri, hanno sperato e tu li hai liberati;

They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

a te gridarono e furono salvati, sperando in te non rimasero delusi.

But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Ma io sono verme, non uomo, infamia degli uomini, rifiuto del mio popolo.

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

Mi scherniscono quelli che mi vedono, storcono le labbra, scuotono il capo:

He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

«Si è affidato al Signore, lui lo scampi; lo liberi, se è suo amico».

But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.

Sei tu che mi hai tratto dal grembo, mi hai fatto riposare sul petto di mia madre.

I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

Al mio nascere tu mi hai raccolto, dal grembo di mia madre sei tu il mio Dio.

Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

Da me non stare lontano, poiché l'angoscia è vicina e nessuno mi aiuta.

Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

Mi circondano tori numerosi, mi assediano tori di Basan.

They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

Spalancano contro di me la loro bocca come leone che sbrana e ruggisce.

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

Come acqua sono versato, sono slogate tutte le mie ossa. Il mio cuore è come cera, si fonde in mezzo alle mie viscere.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

E' arido come un coccio il mio palato, la mia lingua si è incollata alla gola, su polvere di morte mi hai deposto.

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Un branco di cani mi circonda, mi assedia una banda di malvagi; hanno forato le mie mani e i miei piedi,

I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

posso contare tutte le mie ossa. Essi mi guardano, mi osservano:

They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

si dividono le mie vesti, sul mio vestito gettano la sorte.

But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

Ma tu, Signore, non stare lontano, mia forza, accorri in mio aiuto.

Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

Scampami dalla spada, dalle unghie del cane la mia vita.

Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

Salvami dalla bocca del leone e dalle corna dei bufali.

I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

Annunzierò il tuo nome ai miei fratelli, ti loderò in mezzo all'assemblea.

Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

Lodate il Signore, voi che lo temete, gli dia gloria la stirpe di Giacobbe, lo tema tutta la stirpe di Israele;

For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

perché egli non ha disprezzato né sdegnato l'afflizione del misero, non gli ha nascosto il suo volto, ma, al suo grido d'aiuto, lo ha esaudito.

My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

Sei tu la mia lode nella grande assemblea, scioglierò i miei voti davanti ai suoi fedeli.

The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

I poveri mangeranno e saranno saziati, loderanno il Signore quanti lo cercano: «Viva il loro cuore per sempre».

All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

Ricorderanno e torneranno al Signore tutti i confini della terra, si prostreranno davanti a lui tutte le famiglie dei popoli.

For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.

Poiché il regno è del Signore, egli domina su tutte le nazioni.

All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

A lui solo si prostreranno quanti dormono sotto terra, davanti a lui si curveranno quanti discendono nella polvere.

A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

lo servirà la mia discendenza. Si parlerà del Signore alla generazione che viene;

They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

annunzieranno la sua giustizia; al popolo che nascerà diranno: «Ecco l'opera del Signore!».
